Yin yoga is a slow yoga practice which allows you to work the deeper “yin” tissues, namely ligaments, deep fascial networks and even bones. All tissues are important and need to be exercised so that we can achieve optimal health and vitality. Thus Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to any dynamic practice (such as running, swimming, cycling and other styles of yoga).
In Yin yoga we hold each pose for three to five minutes to allow these “yin” tissues to release. This style of yoga is also perfect to allow you to slow down, taking time to listen to your body and see what’s happening inside. Thus this style of yoga is perfect for combating stress and helping with sleeping problems.
